Record Car Rentals Over The Holidays Cause Crisis For Tourists
Record numbers of car rentals in Costa Rica over the holidays caused nightmares for tourists and tour operators. With no vehicles available, tourists had to find other means of transportation.
(PressReleasePoint) -San Jose, Costa Rica Wednesday, January 25th, 2012 – Tourists and tour operators in Costa Rica faced massive shortages of rental cars over the holiday season, due to increased numbers of visitors. Rental agencies were forced to turn down thousands of calls from potential clients, individuals and tour operators alike. The lack of affordable transportation in Costa Rica has caused frustration amongst tourists for years. With the exception of agencies like U-Save, good car rental companies are hard to come by.
Increased tourism in Costa Rica has its positive and negative effects on the country, with an already strained infrastructure, the Central American country has faced a myriad of problems in recent years. Due to several factors, Costa Rica has become one of the top destinations in the world for tourists. Forbes recently ranked Playa Santa Teresa as the 10th most beautiful beach in the world, which has drawn a massive amount of interest and increased numbers of tourists to the country. Apart from its beautiful beaches, Costa Rica offers all sorts of attractions to foreigners, from volcanoes and hot springs to cloud forests and jungle walks. Visiting all of these, however, requires transportation.
The top companies in the country were almost completely sold out for much of the last month, without a single affordable rental car from mid December until mid January. Tourists were forced to rely upon public transportation, shuttles and taxis as a means to get around. The lack of four wheel drive cars in the national rental pool caused issues as well, as many of the roads and main destinations require more off road capabilities. One of the nation's top agencies, U-Save Car & Truck Rental, reported higher call volume than ever before during this period. Costa Rica car rental.
The question remains as to what rental companies will do for the upcoming season; with only a few options in sight, it’s an uncertain road that many of them face. Specialty car rental agencies have popped up in the past few years, dealing in vehicles specific to certain needs, from cars for the disabled, to cars set up for fishing and surfing, four wheeling and hill climbing. The varied terrain and amazing landscapes are sure to keep people coming back; there are more and more niche markets providing opportunities for those that are able to take advantage of them.
Costa Rica has a wealth of vacation opportunities on hand and U-Save Car & Truck Rental provides an easy way to experience them all. To find out more, visit their website at www.usavecostarica.com, call them locally at 506-2430-4647, or from North America at 866-267-1070.
