IEEE Computer Society, the community for technology leaders, will hold a free webinar on using the TouchDevelop development platform to create apps on tablets and smartphones.
LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., 15 January 2013 - (PressReleasePoint) - IEEE Computer Society, the community for technology leaders, will hold a free webinar on using the TouchDevelop development platform to create apps on tablets and smartphones.

The TouchDevelop Web App lets developers create apps on their tablets or smartphones. The environment features a predictive on-screen code keyboard and a general-purpose touch-optimized programming language. Scripts written by using TouchDevelop can access data, media, and sensors on the phone, tablet, and PC. Scripts can interact with cloud services, including storage, computing, and social networks.
The webinar will provide instructions on how to develop scripts on popular platforms, including iPads, iPhones, Android phones or tablets, and Windows phones, tablets or laptops. TouchDevelop scripts can be exported as true Windows (Phone) apps and submitted to the store. The speakers will introduce you to this new environment and get you started with this revolutionary new environment.
The webinar will be led by:
- Arjmand Samuel, Microsoft Research Senior Research Program Manager, who works with the academic community to foster research and collaborations in the devices and services research areas and leads the mobile and cloud computing research and outreach for Microsoft Research.
- Nikolai Tillmann, Microsoft Research Principal Research Software Development Engineer, who specializes in program authoring on mobile devices, program analysis, testing, code optimization, and verification, and recently started the TouchDevelop project.
- Peli de Halleux, Microsoft Research Senior Research Software Development Engineer, who works on the TouchDevelop project and teaches computer science at the Rainier Beach High School.
