On January 27, Revolution Health sent e-mails alerting users that it would discontinue its personal health record service at the end of February, Healthcare IT News reported.

The e-mail did not indicate why the company decided to terminate its PHR service. The company advised users to download their PHR as a .pdf file and save the document for their records.

Background

American Online co-founder Steve Case helped launch Revolution Health in 2007. In 2008, the firm merged with Waterfront Media's Everyday Heath Network, which provides online health information and resources.

Revolution Health currently is among Everyday Health's portfolio of Web sites, which combined have 38 million registered users and bring in about 25 million unique visitors per month (Goedert,Health Data Management, 1/25).
