One of Richard Maize’s most important goals in life is to support children’s charities – and particularly children’s hospital – to fullest extent possible.
“We place children at the top of our community service agenda. They are the ones who are most helpless when it comes to illness and medical problems. Accordingly, we support The Chase Foundation and the Vista Del Mar Community, Richard Maize said this week.

Los Angeles, OCtober 12, 2010: On the occasion of the Vista Del Mar 100th Anniversary, Richard ad Rochelle Maize made a generous contribution towards the commemorative Centennial Book which was published for the occasion.Richard Maize provided some background to the Community: founded 100 years ago, as the Jewish Orphan’s Home of Southern California, Vista Del Mar began serving children living on the streets of Los Angeles whose parents could not care for them because of illness, poverty, or death, irrespective of ethnicity.By placing orphaned children in an innovative cottage setting with house parents rather than the institutional environment typical of the time, Vista became known as one of the finest residential programs in the country. Richard Maize added: “As needs changed, Vista branched out into areas of foster care, adoption, and the treatment of children with mental health, emotional, behavior and social problems. Today, Vista is one of the leading social service agencies serving children and their families in Southern California.” The agency, according to Richard Maize, maintains a fine residential program for troubled children and teens, as well as one of only three special care facilities in the State. With the addition of its divisions: Reiss Davis Child Study Center, Julia Ann Singer Center, HomeSAFE and Family
Service of Santa Monica, I believe Vista is truly one of the most comprehensive care facilities for children experiencing mental health problems, behavioral problems, emotional problems, or social problems.”Likewise, Richard’s support of the Chase Foundation stems from his love of children and caring for their welfare. In a continuing program of support, Richard Maize extols the virtues of the Chase Foundation. Richard Maize explained: “The Chase Foundation was founded in memory of Chase Richards by his loving family after he passed away at two-years-old when cancer relentlessly took his life.“Through the generosity of the Richards family, and The Chase Foundation, the Child Life Program at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles program is now the largest of its kind on the West Coast.”Richard Maize explained that The Chase Foundation’s sole mission is to support the Chase Child Life Program which operates on the principle that the best medical care alone isn’t enough. The Child Life Staff addresses the emotional, social, and developmental needs of children, striving to promote optimum development of children and their families, to maintain normal living patterns and to minimize psychological trauma.Richard Maize concluded: “I fully support their goals which are to raise the resources to expand Chase Child Life services so that every child admitted to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles will be
able to participate in and benefit from its Child Life program. “Significant and on-going donor contributions are imperative in order to achieve this goal, and this is what we are committed to doing as much as we can,” he added.
