Rik Van de Walle and Mieke Van Herreweghe obtain a large majority in elections for a new rector and vice-rector

(26-09-2017) Today Tuesday 26 September at 8 a.m. the resultst of the second and last voting round of the elections for a new rector and vice-rector at our university were unlocked.

The results show that Rik Van de Walle and Mieke Van Herreweghe obtained amply the necessary majority of the votes.

At 10.30 a.m. the Board of Governors will assemble; this is determined by decree. The elected team will be nominated to the board members, after which the official appointment will follow if a two-third majority is reached. Please follow the news on the homepage of Ghent University for the current situation regarding this matter.

At 11.30 a.m. the election results will be announced at the Student Square (between the Ufo and the student restaurant De Brug, Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat) by Sas van Rouveroij van Nieuwaal, the Election Committee Chairman. Also, the current and new rectorial team of our university will be present on this occasion.

To all staff members: please come round at 11.30 a.m. at the Student Square! Please note that this message possibly will not reach everyone on time so please gather your colleagues and come together.
