July 22, 2014) - Rockland Trust today announced it awarded six $2,500 scholarships to high school graduates in communities from Cape Cod and the South Shore to the MetroNorth region. The bank selected winners within its footprint based on academics, extracurricular activities, community involvement, and an essay about why community service is important to them. The students exemplify a commitment to excellence and service in their community.
This year, the bank received more than 450 applications from students throughout Massachusetts. Rockland Trust awarded a $2,500 scholarship to each of the following students:
Jenna McKenney of Norwell, plans to attend Harvard University
Diana McLaughlin of Pembroke, plans to attend Ithaca College
Nicole O'Leary of Orleans, plans to attend the University of Notre Dame
Colin Quinn of North Attleboro, plans to attend Ohio State University
Shamsh Shaikh of Burlington, plans to attend Boston University
Marcus Urann IV of Duxbury, plans to attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Chris Oddleifson, Rockland Trust's President and CEO, and Jane Lundquist, Executive Vice President and Director of Retail Delivery, Business Banking, and Home Equity Lending presented the scholarships at a special reception for the students and their families at the bank's corporate offices in Hanover.
