For more than 22 years, Rockwell Automation has gathered a diverse, global community of distributors, consultants, system integrators and end users to explore the latest trends in industrial automation at its annual Automation Fair®. This year’s event held for the first time in Houston, Texas – one of the world’s oil & gas headquarters – showcased Barco’s collaborative networked visualization platform to deliver a robust, common operational picture displaying no less than 17 different sources based primarily on Rockwell Automation PlantPAx® Process Automation System.

“When oil & gas companies experience the simultaneous display of video feeds, DCS applications, and critical process control information, they immediately recognize the benefits that enhanced situational awareness can bring to their analysis and decision-making capabilities,” comments Beth Parkinson, Director of Market Development for Rockwell Automation.

Real-time collaboration
Forming the centerpiece of the event’s Oil & Gas Pavilion, the visualization solution featured Barco’s highly redundant and reliable O-Series video wall cubes and CMS control room management software suite, which powers real-time collaboration among local and remote users across multiple distributed control rooms and decision centers, while expertly driving image management on the display wall. Barco also demonstrated its one-click wireless presentation and collaboration system, ClickShare, illustrating how operators can quickly and easily share images and data from their laptops, tablets, and smartphones on any meeting room display or screen.

View better, share faster, resolve quicker
“Rockwell Automation has developed a wide array of oil & gas process control applications to enable companies to efficiently monitor and control their operations across the entire oil and gas supply chain. By enabling their customers to composite many sources on a single, high-resolution screen, and push this common operational picture across distributed control centers, we empower them to view better, share faster and resolve issues more quickly as a result of enhanced collaboration across remote locations like between onshore and offshore control centers,” comments Suchit Rout, Global Strategic Marketing Manager for Barco.
