Safety 2018: A Student's Guide to the PDC

There’s still time to register for Safety 2018 taking place in San Antonio, TX, June 3-6. Registration for student members is $50 and for student section faculty advisors is $195 through May 31; on June 1, the cost increases to $225.

Communities Lounge

June 3-5 (Sunday, June 3 2:30-6PM; Monday & Tuesday, June 4-5 9:30am – 3:05pm) Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center Expo Hall (Booth #1347)

Join other members in this collaboration space where you can engage and connect with peers. Gather insights from ASSP senior leadership including President-Elect Rixio Medina, during a fireside chat. The lounge is also a great place to network and get some special ASSP prizes.

Young Professionals Networking Reception, Sunday, June 3 (7 - 9 p.m.): Pat O’Brien’s Bar in San Antonio

Mingle with the Young Professionals in OSH Common Interest Group for a night out at Pat O’Brien’s Bar on Sunday, June 3, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The venue recreates a French New Orleans atmosphere and is the perfect casual setting to meet new friends or catch up with old friends. Registration includes two complimentary drink tickets and food and the registration fee is $10. Tickets are limited, and students 21 and older are welcome.

Join young professionals and students for breakfast on Monday and Tuesday, June 4 and 5 from 9:15-10:15am.  ASSP Senior Leadership and staff will be present as topics of discussion will relate to the OSH profession and its impact on emerging professionals in the safety field.  Register here.

Student Roundtable Discussions – Safety Talks

OSH professionals from various industries and backgrounds will share their career experiences, discuss communication skills, professional development and other relevant topics. Foundation’s Inaugural 5K More Fun Than Run

Tuesday, June 5 (Sunset): Tower of the Americas, near the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center

You are invited to join in the fun at the Foundation’s Inaugural 5k More Fun Than Run at Safety 2018. The event will be a sunset race on Tuesday, June 5. Teams are welcome.  Whether you want to race like an Olympian, hop like a bunny or skip like a kid, just have fun being part of this inaugural event which supports the Safety Matters Fund. In 6,758 steps, you will be making history and supporting a great cause. Registration includes a T-shirt, bib number, timing chip and a goodie bag.

Participate in the Safety Escape Room Challenge at Safety 2018

Test your hazard analysis and puzzle-solving skills in the Safety Escape Room Challenge. Put together a team of up to six players (ask your friends) and work together to solve a series of puzzles to open the locks and escape within 30 minutes. See the game attendants to sign up your team during the conference. Visit the ASSP Lounge (Booth #1347) for more details.
