Samsung Mobile “turns on tomorrow” with its 2010 product line up
Samsung Mobile has unveiled the first product of its 2010 line-up and local strategy for the year ahead at Mobile World Congress 2010 in Barcelona as it steps up a gear to become the number one mobile manufacturer in Australia by the end of 2010.
Sydney, February 26, 2010 – Building on the success of its ICON range, launched in August 2009, Samsung Mobile will continue to bring to market a smartphone range to suit every Australian lifestyle. With a range of new and exciting features to keep your busy world connected, this year will also mark the introduction of an advanced Social Hub designed to bring to life the ultimate integrated mobile experience.
An integral part of the vision to create a smartphone for every lifestyle is Samsung’s ongoing commitment to support a variety of operating systems (O/S) across its mobile phone range. Offering mobile phones that support Android, Windows Mobile and the new Samsung bada operating system, Samsung will this year consolidate its industry leading position as the mobile phone maker offering the greatest choice to consumers.
“When we bring a new phone to the Australian market, we want to make sure it gives those who use it the best experience possible. That’s why in 2010, Samsung will strengthen its portfolio of operating systems with the introduction of Samsung bada, a new open operating system which supports a wealth of applications to suit every lifestyle,” said Tyler McGee, Vice President, Telecommunications, Samsung Electronics Australia.
Due to launch in mid-year, Samsung will kick-start its smartphone line-up with the launch of the much anticipated Samsung Wave handset. Bringing the best of tomorrow’s technology together in one mobile for a fantastic multimedia experience, the Samsung Wave incorporates a generous 3.3” Super AMOLED screen for crystal clear viewing of photos and videos and a high speed 1Ghz processor to be your ‘always on’ mobile multimedia companion. The TouchWiz 3.0 user interface is a new way of interacting with your phone to ensure instant access and greater control to personalised content on the go.
The introduction of Social Hub across Samsung’s smartphones, starting with Samsung Wave, draws on Samsung’s innovative approach to mobile phones. Social Hub is an integrated social networking solution that brings all your contacts and networks together with integrated messaging so you can receive updates in real time,
This easy and intuitive hub integrates all your contact information and activities across up to ten social media, work and personal email or calendar accounts. Social Hub simplifies all these functions, meaning that you only need one email address and set of log in details to access your entire social network.
Developers can look forward to the freedom that the bada open mobile platform offers as Samsung aims to help create smartphone features accessible to everyone. As the scope for creating applications widens through the bada O/S, developers can reach larger audiences with more varied and targeted applications and services. Samsung’s new application store for bada based applications is set to launch in parallel with the Samsung Wave in Australia. Samsung apps will also be supported across all O/S on Samsung mobile phones.
“2010 marks an exciting time for Samsung Mobile in Australia. We are committed to giving everyone the best of tomorrow’s smartphone experiences today with our expanding range and new operating system. We have a clear goal to become number one in the Australian market this year and our smartphone strategy is designed to support us in achieving this milestone,” commented McGee.
