The SCC International Group has recently completed a 10-month installation programme on behalf of Woking Borough Council to upgrade television aerials in preparation for the digital switchover.

SCCI were appointed by Woking Council in 2008 to update approximately 2190 outlet points in residential flats and maisonettes in the area.

The new Integrated Reception Systems allow residents to view terrestrial Digital TV, with the addition of Sky TV, Freesat and DAB/FM radio.

Andy Kearns, Head of Business Development for Switchsure and the SCCI Group said: “SCCI’s installation services are tried and tested with over 300,000 homes upgraded to digital by our highly skilled engineering teams in recent years.

“Through our contract with Woking, we have demonstrated our ability to provide a tailored and competitive funding product to clients who don’t wish to use valuable capital resources to fund the digital TV upgrades.”

Woking Council has used a 10-year lease to fund the project and Andy Kearns believes this option could grow in popularity across the country. He said: “With time to switch over to digital shortening and capital being scarce, we believe that more and more late Digital TV upgrade adopters may go down the lease/rental route.”

Julie Meme, Planned Maintenance and Repairs Manager for Woking Borough Council, said: “We have been extremely pleased with the whole project, from procurement to completion. More importantly, our tenants are pleased as they now have more choice and they are ready for the digital switchover.”
