“Media-Alternatives is confident that we can help school systems sustain programs that are at risk of running out of money in today’s tough economic environment”, said Mark Tilford, a managing partner at the San Antonio, Texas firm. “The kids are ultimately what matter, and this service can help schools continue these programs by raising the money they need with School Ad Radio.”

Available in all U.S. states, Media-Alternative launched Business Ad Radio, in late 2008 which is currently being used in commercial applications such as multi-family housing, real estate & custom home building industries.

Now, the company has developed “School Ad Radio” (www.SchoolAdRadio.com)
- which gives schools a new, unique way to raise school sponsor money, while providing an informational service to parents & students by way of broadcasting current school news over their own radio station.

“We are excited to give school districts another avenue of raising increasingly elusive funds for their schools”, states Tilford. “Our School Ad Radio program relies more on potentially lucrative corporate sponsorships, and less on student-intensive door-to-door residential solicitation. You have to sell a lot of candy bars and cookie dough to come up with the sort of funds that schools can charge for School Ad Radio air sponsorships”. The company also gives tips on selling sponsorships once the school is enrolled in the program.

Media-Alternatives uses an on-site “Micro Transmitter” to broadcast a repeating program of school information and sponsorship commercials over a specified FM frequency to the car radio of parents and students waiting outside of the school before and after school hours. School Ad Radio essentially gives the school its very own 24-hour radio station. “Our transmitters put out a clear FM signal which can be heard in targeted parking lots and waiting areas around the school.” Tilford also notes that their micro-transmitters require no FCC licensing.

The company produces its customized recordings based on information received from the school. School Ad Radio broadcasts can include sporting events, concerts, academic news, or whatever the school’s wish, read by the company’s male & female professional voice-over artists, sweetened with high-quality licensed music.

A school signs up no more than six sponsors to maximize exposure for the advertising sponsors. For each production created, the sponsors ads are then interspersed with the school’s news messages which are updated up to twenty-four times per year.

“Our 23+ years of audio advertising experience is totally applicable to this new service,” said Tilford. “School Ad Radio is useful must-have fundraising tool for schools of all types, with the real potential to increase sponsors bids year over year for the limited air time.
