Search the Android Market through a desktop browser on RawApps.com, a new app recommendation and discovery site.
RawApps.com announced the launch of their new mobile app recommendation and discovery website for the Android Application Market.
May 25 2010, Miami - RawApps.com has just launched a new app recommendation and discovery website that offers visitors the ability to search, bookmark and suggest apps from the Android market to other members of the community.
Up until now, the complete Android market could only be accessed through a Droid powered mobile device. Outside of the official Android site (which only showcases featured apps) searching the Android Market through a regular browser is limited to a few online directories with no real community filters. The launch of a recommendations powered site like RawApps comes as exciting news to Android fans because it provides advanced social filtering tools to help users navigate and browse through tens of thousands of apps with relevant results.
Two of the key app recommendation and discovery features worth noting in the latest release include the following. The first is the ability to create and browse Android app lists from the community. These lists are often short (made up of 3-5 apps) and offer users an exciting way to filter through thousands of apps to find relevant content based on results from individuals with similar interests. The second is social web integration which connects the RawApps site to major platforms like Facebook and allows visitors to share app lists and other content from RawApps with specific friends across other social networks.
As the number of apps in the Android Market and iTunes App Store continue grow, so too does the end user’s need for better filters. The new site introduces a variety of recommendation based features that are designed to help connect more users with the type of applications they’re looking for. “Search is increasingly becoming more and more about the social web. Our site helps users navigate through thousands of apps by integrating social utilities like Facebook for suggestions from within your network.” says Antonio Otalvaro, CMO at RawApps.
The release of RawApps.com comes only a few days after the NDP Group reported that the Android OS has surpassed iPhone usage for the first time in the U.S. market during the first quarter of 2010. RawApps.com, has certainly carved out a nice niche for itself by focusing on the Android platform and is sure to enjoy having positioned itself in the right place at the right time especially with some of their upcoming releases designed compliment this launch. Among them will be an Android app to allow users to sync their RawApps favorites with their mobile devices as well as the Facebook application which will allow users to interact with the site on their favorite social network.
