Sussex’s Second Eleven defeated Kent yesterday in their Second Eleven Trophy match at Preston Nomads CC.
Following the thrilling three-day draw in the Championship match between the sides earlier in the week, Sussex won the toss and elected to bat in this 50-over match.
And the hosts racked up 340 for 6 as opener Harry Finch (pictured) led the way with a stunning 120 whilst trialist Craig Cachopa outscored him in the run-fest making 147.
Kent gave the stiff target an excellent chase but none of their batsmen could quite match the knocks of Finch and Cachopa and they fell 34 runs short of their target. Matthew Hobden (3 for 44) and Will Beer (3 for 53) were the pick of the bowlers whilst there were also scalps for Tim Moses (2 for 43), Chris Liddle (1 for 40) and Ashar Zaidi (1 for 57).
Alex Blake top-scored with 76 for Kent whilst Sam Northeast and Chris Piesley both made half-centuries. Please click HERE to download a full PDF scorecard from the match.
