Callum Jackson hit 80 on Day Two of Sussex's three-day 2nd XI Championship match

Sussex’s Second Eleven batted themselves into the lead on Day Two of their Championship match with MCC Universities at The Parks, Oxford.

Resuming on 74 for 1 in reply to the MCC’s 236 all out, they reached 300 for 7 before declaring when there was no further play possible due to rain at 4.30pm.

The two unbeaten batsmen overnight went on to make scores as Callum Jackson (80) and Matt Machan (51) both scored half-centuries. Trialist Craig Cachopa top-scored though, hitting 92, whilst there were late order contributions from skipper Will Beer (14 not out) and Ben Shoare (19).
