Sussex’s Second Eleven were victorious in their three-day friendly with Essex on the final day at Horsham yesterday.
The visitors resumed on 55 for 3 on the third day of this match with a lead of 110 runs over Sussex. They reached 210 for 7 before declaring as Jaik Mickleburgh, captaining the side, made his second century of the match. Pick of the bowlers for Sussex were Lewis Hatchett (2 for 19) and Fynn Hudson-Prentice (2 for 26).
This left Sussex a target of 266 to win from 61 overs remaining in the day and they did so in the penultimate over, having lost eight wickets. Ben Shoare (pictured 43), Ashar Zaidi (56) and Brad Wadlan (64) were the main contributors for the hosts as Sussex won by two wickets.
The Second Eleven are back in action on Monday 23rd June when they take on Kent in the Second Eleven Championship at Preston Nomads CC.
