Ashar Zaidi struck a century as the Sussex 2nd XI hit back on Day Two of their three-day Championship match with Kent at Preston Nomads CC.
The visitors only managed to add nine runs to their overnight score before declaring as the Sussex attack took four quick wickets. Matthew Hobden finished with figures of 5 for 78 whilst Harry Finch took 2 for 5 from bowling only three overs, as Kent finished their innings on 424 for 9 declared.
Sussex then batted for 82 overs and made 320 for 6 before declaring behind the visitors as Zaidi was the star of the show, making 133. He was well supported by trialist Craig Cachopa who fell only five runs short of a century, whilst Chris Piesley took three wickets for Kent.
The Kent openers then negotiated the final 15 overs of the day without losing a wicket and they lead Sussex by 165 runs going into the final day’s play today, which begins at 11.00am. Entrance into Preston Nomads is of course FREE.
