SEMICON Korea 2011 Set to Open January 26
Largest Microelectronics Exhibition in Korea Co-located with LED Korea 2011
SEOUL, South Korea — December 14, 2010 —SEMICON Korea, the region's largest exhibition dedicated to advanced microelectronics manufacturing, takes place at the COEX Exhibition Center in Seoul from January 26-28, 2011. SEMICON Korea 2011 is organized by SEMI, the global industry association serving the manufacturing supply chains for the microelectronic, display and photovoltaic industries.
Marking its 24thanniversary next year, SEMICON Korea will feature more than 400 exhibiting companies occupying more than 1,400 exhibit booths, showcasing the latest products and technologies for microelectronics design and manufacturing. More than 30,000 attendees are expected to participate.
The semiconductor industry, long regarded as the biggest contributor to South Korean exports, is now enjoying its second prime on the back of surging popularity in smart phones and tablet PCs. In this regard, SEMICON Korea 2011 will provide an opportunity to witness and experience the dynamics of global semiconductor technologies, latest equipment and materials, and the promising future of the industry.
The SEMICON Korea technical program will open on January 26 with a keynote speech titled “VLSI Technology, Past, Present and Future-Opportunities and Challenges” by noted technologist Dr. Yoshio Nishi, professor of electrical engineering at Stanford University and director of the Stanford site of the National Nanotechnology Infrastructure Network.
The SEMI Technology Symposium (STS) at SEMICON Korea will feature two days of technical sessions focused on technology issues and process developments including advanced lithography, materials, device technology, etch, chemical mechanical polishing (CMP), and interconnect technologies. Additionally, SEMICON Korea will highlight four in-depth technology forums addressing critical topics in MEMS and printed electronics, metrology and inspection, system LSI, and parts sourcing.
The SEMI Standards program will provide visitors and participants with information on the international standards, which are vital for Korea’s semiconductor industry to improve its competitive edge in the global market. A complete schedule of technical sessions and events can be found on the SEMICON Korea website (Korean:
www.semiconkorea.org; English:

SEMICON Korea 2011 will accommodate an exclusive session, the Suppliers Search program. Companies from Japan and Singapore taking part in this program will provide local firms with practical advice and tips to help them expand their businesses abroad, further strengthening the presence of local companies in the global semiconductor market.
With the LED industry emerging as a new market for companies seeking eco-friendly technologies to keep up with the global trend of green “sustainability” growth, SEMICON Korea will be co-located with LED Korea for the fifth year. LED Korea is Korea's premier exhibition and conference dedicated to products and technologies serving the solid state lighting supply chain. LED Korea features an extensive technical conference and more than 60 exhibitors highlighting the unique materials, process technologies, and solutions needed to design and manufacture advanced LEDs and lighting systems.
