Las Vegas, September 7, 2011 - (PressReleasePoint) - Shift4 Corporation, the world's largest independent payment gateway and creators of tokenization, will host a Webinar entitled,Are You Asking the Right Questions About Tokenization, to educate retail professionals on the benefits of tokenization and the dangers of weak or incomplete security solutions.

“There's a lot of buzz about tokenization right now, and people are looking for an authoritative source of information,” said Shift4 CEO Dave Oder. “The Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council recently released guidelines on tokenization,but they left a lot to be desired.”

Shift4 hopes that helping merchants understand the original intent of tokenization will allow them to make an educated decision when selecting a vendor or solution.

“As tokenization becomes an industry standard, we are increasingly seeing organizations promoting solutions that are 'tokenization in name only,'” said Shift4 Vice President of Business Development Bob Lowe, who will present the Webinar. “These solutions don't carry nearly the same level of security or flexibility as the tokenization we designed and released to the industry back in 2005.”

The Webinar, to be held September 15, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. PDT, will provide merchants searching for a tokenization solution with the questions they should ask as well as the "answers" that should raise red flags.

After the Webinar, attendees will receive a blank RFI document they can submit to potential tokenization vendors. The RFI contains more than 50 questions to ensure merchants get all the information they need.

“Our aim for this Webinar is to help retail professionals cut through the hype and marketing-speak surrounding incomplete tokenization solutions,” Lowe said. “We'll address the values of tokenization over encryption and how they apply to forthcoming technologies and Visa's recent announcement regarding EMV.”
