Workshops to take place Thursday, Oct. 12, from 9-11 a.m., or 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Learn more about Saint Mother Theodore Guerin’s roots during the upcoming “Visual Journey to Saint Mother Theodore’s Hometown and French Roots,” workshops.

The workshops, hosted by the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, will take place from 9 to 11 a.m., and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 12, at Providence Spirituality & Conference Center.

Join facilitators Sisters Denise Wilkinson and Jan Craven and share in a virtual trip and pictorial journey to France while learning more about Saint Mother Theodore Guerin and what is happening today in those places that were close to her heart.

Earlier this year, both Sister Denise and Sister Jan were able to travel to France to visit with the French Sisters of Providence from Ruille sur Loir, the Congregation which sent Mother Theodore to the United States.

Both Sister Jan and Sister Denise intend to discuss the roots of the Congregation, with focus on Father Jacques-Francois Dujarie – who many say spearheaded the French Congregation; Mother Marie-Madeleine – the first General Superior of the Sisters of Providence of Ruille sur Loir; and Mother Marie Lecor, the sister who asked Mother Theodore to travel to the United States. In addition, the sisters will delve more deeply into Saint Mother Theodore’s history.

“Providence was really at work in all of their lives,” Sister Jan said.

I hope people come away from this knowing how proud the Sisters of Providence of Ruille are of Mother Theodore,” Sister Denise added.

“They keep her alive,” Sister Jan said. “I want to share their intimate look at what others may not see.”

Cost is $25, and the registration deadline is Oct. 6. However, Sister Jan and Sister Denise said walk-ins will be welcome.
