Imagine taking control of your favourite video games by a quick wave of your hands, or creating personal ringtones with DJ quality ‘scratches’. Or how about watching only the golden moments when your dream team puts the ball in? This is not a page from science fiction. Not if you stop by A*STAR’s CommunicAsia 2008 booth and experience today the future of technologies!
Sixteen new ready-for-market technologies, which will improve the quality of life for users in industry verticals such as entertainment, security, networking and communications, and analytics, have been developed by A*STAR’s (Agency for Science, Technology and Research) Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R). They will be showcased at the upcoming CommunicAsia 2008, from 17 to 20 June 2008 at Singapore Expo Hall 3, Booth 3H2-01.
Most notable among the group of I2R technologies are the mobile entertainment technologies developed from the ongoing Personal 3D Entertainment Systems (P3DES) programme at I2R. These technologies have the ability to increase the enjoyment factor for the end user in today’s increasingly e-lifestyle. The newly developed security applications can offer additional peace-of-mind when global citizens traverse the world while cutting edge communication technologies ensure that the necessary information is always available.
The other ready-for-market technologies by I2R, which include the Wireless Security, Twin USB, License Plate Recognition, Security Registration System, Network Application Fingerprinting, RFID, SLS, DJ Simulation, H.264, Personal Content Digital Rights Management, Video Indexing, Advertisement Insertion, Rising Star and Knowledge Navigation, will be put up for licensing by A*STAR’s Exploit Technologies at the exhibition.
Said Mr Lim Chuan Poh, Chairman of A*STAR: “These world-class market-ready technologies bear testimony to A*STAR’s mission-oriented research and development capability. Indeed, this exhibition of I2R’s inventions speaks volumes of the opportunities available within A*STAR for local and international scientists to do excellent research that makes a positive impact on people and society.”
Added Prof Lye Kin Mun, Deputy Executive Director (Research) of I2R: “The exhibits from I2R show the great impact the research institute’s R&D have on enhancing future lifestyles. Indeed, the new Infocomm and media technologies at the exhibition might, in the foreseeable future, be deployed in mainstream mobile entertainment as well as security applications.”
Mr Boon Swan Foo, Executive Chairman of Exploit Technologies said, “Exploit Technologies is happy to put up for licensing at the upcoming CommunicAsia a rich and refreshed pool of A*STAR’s ready-for-market infocomm technologies, which Singapore enterprises can leverage to create innovative products and services for the international marketplace. Some exciting novel technologies in the areas of lifestyle, security, and network and analytics, will be making their debut at the exhibition. Since Exploit's inception in 2002, we have been proactively engaging the industry to leverage A*STAR technologies to provide a competitive edge to their products and services.
