Smart subscriber gets ‘icing on the cake’

[7 August 2014] Michael Diancin recently won in the ‘unli-shopping’ promo done by wireless services leader Smart, after having subscribed to the 'Unli-Trinet Call & Text 899' three months earlier at the Gaisano Mall in Davao City.

It was a very productive three minutes for Michael T. Diancin and his parents as they tried to haul as much goods as possible during the time given them.

Before they started their shopping spree, they discussed among themselves who would go first and what goods to haul.

As part of their strategy, Michael's father Dante took the first minute of the period as he tried to wade through the alleys of Gaisano Mall Davao Supermarket. The 58-year old father of four spent his first 30 minutes trying to load as many sacks of rice as possible to the shopping cart and immediately saw that there were also goods that the family could use in their bakery. Among his loot was a gallon of cooking oil for the bakery.

The next one to spend a minute shopping was the mother, Florencia, who spent most of her time loading her carts with canned goods and other frozen viands like packed seafood products.

When it was his turn, Michael decided to give himself and other loved ones a treat: he went to the corner where the chocolate products were located and hauled two carts as part of their shopping spree.

“My nephews and nieces really like chocolates, and my girlfriend, too,” he said in justifying his decision to include those expensive products.

Priority

But at the counter, it was his 47-year old mother who segregated the chocolates and decided that the other products should be first to get tagged in paying, as she believed these were the ones that were necessary. “My mother knows best,” the 23-year old youngest in the brood of four smiled.

The goods were what Michael won in the ‘unli-shopping’ promotion recently done by wireless services leader Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) for the ‘Unli-Trinet Call & Text 899’ subscribers who joined the raffle, after having subscribed to Smart Postpaid, three months earlier at the mall where Smart had a booth.

As the raffle winner, Michael was allowed to bring two companions and divide among themselves the three-minute allotted time for them to shop at the Gaisano Mall Davao Supermarket.

Value for money

But for Michael, a food stall supervisor at the same mall, winning the promotion was just icing on the cake, so to speak. “My postpaid plan has been making my life truly easier,” he said, adding that because of his mobile phone plan he has been able to connect with his bosses as he reports daily about the performance of the store.

The daily reporting, he said, would have drained his wallet had he not been able to subscribe to Smart Postpaid’s Unli-Trinet Call & Text 899, because calling and texting other Smart and Sun mobile users have become very affordable.

“It is a good thing that nearly all of the members of my family and other relatives are also subscribers of Smart and Sun. I’m able to get in touch with them with no added cost,” said the hotel and restaurant management graduate of the Joji Ilagan Career Foundation.

He said that even without the promotion, he would have chosen the plan because “I get more than the value for my money and it is easier for me to communicate.”

Truly, for Michael, his Unli-Trinet Call & Text 899 made him a winner, even before he was chosen as the ‘unli-shopping’ winner.
