Social Venture Capitalists and Entrepreneurs Converge in Miami to Create a Sustainable Haiti
More than 145 speakers will serve as panelists at the 45 different panels held during the Sustainable Haiti Conference to discuss and develop public/private partnerships in Haiti in renewable energy, job creation, family health, tourism, and many more topics.
MIAMI, FL, (March 11, 2010)—The aftermath of Haiti’s devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake on January 12th 2010 that left an estimated more than 200,000 dead has fueled discussions on rebuilding a sustainable Haiti. From March 17th-19th nationally recognized social venture capitalists, social entrepreneurs, and venture philanthropists alike will converge in Miami to discuss the role that social investors and entrepreneurs will play in forging a new Haiti.
Dubbed a conference within a conference, the Sustainable Haiti Conference takes place concurrently during the three-day Social Venture Capital/Social Enterprise Conference (SVC/SE) in Miami, the largest business and economic conference of its kind. Sustainable Haiti includes 45 workshops/panels and over 100 speakers from around the world ranging from social entrepreneurs and social investors, US government officials, NGOs, leaders of the Haitian Diaspora and Haitian government officials, faith-based groups, and corporations with a presence in Haiti. Some of the sustainable development strategies to discuss include: the current state of Haiti’s banking and financial sector, opportunities in Haiti’s potential tourism space, media’s role and responsibility in supporting and improving communication’s in the devastated country, new education initiatives, public private partnerships as a catalyst for Haiti’s job growth, renewable energy’s opportunity, and numerous of more topics that focus on sustainable development and economic efficiency.
