Sold Out 2006 Los Angeles Spa & Resort and Medical Spa Expo Spotlights Industry Success
Increased attendance, sold out expo and several successful product
launches highlight continuing growth of Southern California spa and medical spa
business -
From thousands of spa industry attendees to a completely sold
out exhibit show floor featuring more than 250 leading companies showcasing the
most innovative health, beauty and wellness products and treatments, the Spa
& Resort and Medical Spa Expo and Conference, February 26 and 27 at the Los
Angeles Convention Center, defined the explosive growth of the spa and medical
spa industry.
The Spa & Resort and Medical Spa Expo and Conference -
the fastest-growing series of events in the spa and medical spa industries –
experienced a preliminary increase of 23 percent in attendance from last year’s,
and featured a completely sold-out expo floor. In addition to increased
attendance, the
quality of attendees at the 2006 Los Angeles event also
increased, including a higher percentage of spa industry professionals who
influence purchasing decisions. More than 4,300 professionals filled the aisles,
exhibit booths and educational session rooms at the Convention
Center.
“The Spa and Resort and Medical Spa Expos have fast become
leading sources for industry news,” said Eileen Baird, group vice president and
show manager of the Spa & Resort and Medical Spa Expo and Conference. “ Many
new product and equipment introductions at the show clearly indicate the
Expo’s continuing value to the spa and medical spa community. As the
industry continues to expand, events such as the Spa & Resort and Medical
Spa Expo and Conference will continue to serve as valuable industry forums that
generate a wealth of resources.”
The expo was produced by Reed
Exhibitions, the world’s largest organizer of business-tobusiness
events.
From BioEnergetic, Vinotherapie and Ayurvedic skin care
advancements to the lastest laserassisted liposuction technique, the 2006 Spa
& Resort and Medical Spa Expo and Conference showcased a comprehensive
sampling of the most cutting-edge treatments, technology, products and hands on
demos. With vendors displaying the most up-to-date services, equipment and
products, the LA event defined the trends that will resonate with spa and
medical spa customers during the next year, ensuring those in the spa and
medical spa industry stay abreast of the timely issues that will impact
business.
Exhibitors and attendees alike were pleased with event traffic
and attendance, increased number of exhibitors and quality of sales
leads.
“The Spa & Resort Event is one of the best expos,” said Wayne
Vangelist, owner, Living Well Day Spa, Covina, CA. “I saw quite a few products
that I have never seen before. People attend this event to buy, and we
definitely did! We’ve also noticed a higher-end of spa attendees.”
With
several successful market launches, the Los Angeles event exhibited the latest
trends that will shape business during the coming year, including:
•
Bioenergetics
• Lights, lasers, injectables
• Customized facials
• Food
& beverage based products like vinotherapie
• Personalized Products
(based on DNA and blood testing)
• Natural Hair Products
• Mineral Make
Up
• At-Home versions of spa treatments
In addition to the exhibitor
show floor, the expo offered The All-New Educational Program, developed in
conjunction with the Medical Spa Society. The program was developed to keep
professionals on the leading edge of change within the spa and medical spa
industries. Industry experts delivered insider expertise, insights and practical
tips on marketing, spa service operations, the latest trends in medical
treatments, and how spas and practices can boost revenue. As part of the
program, medical professionals were eligible to receive Continuing Medical
Education credits.
Devised into concurrent areas, including Spa, Medical
and Business education tracks, the newest track, Trends in Technology, was
introduced at the LA event and focused on cosmetic dentistry and dental spas.
With dental spas emerging worldwide, the track explored the issues behind the
trend of combining the spa experience with dentistry.
From hands-on
treatment demonstrations to the latest business tactics, these sessions offered
spa and medical spa professionals the most comprehensive industry news. The Spa
& Resort Expos continually monitor trends to offer accurate and timely
industry information, shown in the addition of cosmetic dentistry sessions. In
turn, spa owners, directors, and managers utilize this valuable information to
make business decisions with more confidence
“This was definitely better
than other expos we’ve attended. There are many new product and equipment
introductions at this show,” said Angelica Delao, esthetician, Complexion, Seal
Beach, CA. “Also, the exhibitor workshop sessions were incredibly
informative.”
Additionally, the expo presented the latest products where
industry professionals gathered to see demonstrations, receive treatments, see a
behind-the-scenes medical spa and spa and resort tours.
“Overall, the
show had tremendous traffic,” said Kevin Yeaman, president, Power Plate. “This
event was recommended to me by several industry professionals. Buyers know they
will find what’s new, what’s unique at this event – it truly is the main show to
make major purchasing decisions.”
