Soliton Releases The Next Version Of Configuration Software For Its Smart Camera

Soliton, India's Machine Vision pioneer, has released it's next version of easy-to-use configuration interface for it's smart camera, enabling even a beginner to quickly configure the system to perform automated visual inspection tasks.

Soliton, India's first and largest manufacturer of Machine Vision products, has released it's newest version of Soliton Vision Artist (SVA), an easy to use configuration software for the Soliton smart camera. The SVA offers a list of image acquisition, image processing and control steps that the user can select to build a step by step instruction based execution routine (script), for the smart camera to perform automated visual inspection applications. Apart from the basic image processing tools that the previous version offered, the new SVA has special tools including Barcode reader, OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and OCV (Optical Character Verification) to address applications like label inspection, part tracking, print inspection, barcode/pharmacode based sorting etc.

While offering powerful image processing tools and control options, the prime focus on this UI development has been on the ease of use and it comes loaded with tools that accomplish just that. The entire SVA, for instance, is an all-in-one software to configure the camera settings as well as to program the smart camera for specific applications like presence/absence check, dimensioning, sorting, defect identification etc. Features like the live image update helps the user to acquire images of products from the smart camera, and to easily develop and test scripts by observing the outputs of the processing steps, and modifying the necessary parameters till the expected results are achieved. The user can then specify conditions for Pass and Fail cases and configure control actions for devices such as PLCs, conveyors, indicator lamps, alarms, PCs etc. connected to the various ports like RS232 serial port, Ethernet port, Digital Output lines and composite video output. The script can then be downloaded to the smart camera by a single click of a button on the SVA user interface, after which the smart camera is ready to continuously inspect parts in stand alone mode.

This form of easy to use configuration software enhances the value provided by smart vision systems, by significantly reducing development time of projects, negating the need for extensive training, and also making it easy to reconfigure the system when the inspection requirement changes over a period of time. The Soliton Vision Artist was highlighted in the Vision Systems Design magazine, in a recent article titled Embedded Intelligence.
