Soundslates - Creating New Opportunities for Musicians Worldwide, Through Online Collaboration

The social media website will connect singers, songwriters, musicians and sound professionals world wide, tapping into the global talent pool and will provide them new opportunities not only to co-create but also to market their combined talents.

ZURICH, Switzerland, December 31st 2011 - (PressReleasePoint) - Swiss based company Soundslates. AG will be launching Soundslates (beta): A clever online collaborative music-making community, on January 1st 2012. The social media platform offers its members a simple, but surprisingly effective collaboration tool. Soundslates.com strives to connect and showcase a worldwide community of artists, bridging cultural and continental divides with one global language - music. 

The diversity of singers, songwriters, musicians and sound professionals participating in the community will deliver endless possibilities of sounds and create opportunities to collaborate with talents otherwise unreachable. Rock, Rap, Classical, R&B, Indie, Jazz, Electro, Metal, World - All categories of music are welcome - the platform has been design to allow for a multitude of instruments - the common denominator being passion and a strong desire to create new music.

Pierre Seylan, 22, founder of Soundslates.com: "I was frustrated by not being able to find exactly the right person to share my musical vision, was passionate about their work and who simply wanted to make music together." Tapping into a larger talent pool was the obvious way to go.

Soundslates.com is not designed to integrate software, leaving enough flexibility for the artists to develop sounds using their preferred tools and then uploading the files to the platform. "There just isn't the right tech out there yet,” says M. Seylan. Once their personal profile created, artists can open projects ("collabs") and post job offers, or browse the community to build a composition as a group. Alternatively, community members can search "collabs" and jobs to offer their expertise. The collaborative process happens either for free or for a small fee. "Sometimes you're just missing vocals, a beat or a riff. I'd be quite happy to pay an unsigned but talented musician for just the right sound to complete my composition." 

Soundslates.com will be based on a freemium model as of its launch, with a special "free for life" offer for the first 100 artists who start a collab. Later in 2012, Soundslates.com will propose a secure online market for finished compositions or partial sequences, also providing basic licensing for the musical creations. 

Social media celebrity Lisa Lavie collaborated with other artists on Soundslates.com, co-creating a holiday season video-clip featuring the website. The start-up plans to repeat this type of promotion in 2012, bringing Internet celebrities and talented artists world wide together within the Soundslates.com community.
