Travel with Southwest Travel Club to one annual festival which celebrates the coming of spring with a visit to Washington D.C. and the National Cherry Blossom Festival. This years National Cherry Blossom Festival is being held March 27th – April 11, 2010. It promises to be as enjoyable and exciting as years past.

Visitors from across the U.S. as well as international travelers come to experience this beautiful scene, a sea of pink and white blossoms covering the Tidal Basin. A gift from Japan in 1912, these famous trees have come to symbolize the natural beauty surrounding our nations capital. A not for profit organization, the National Cherry Blossom Festival Inc coordinates, promotes and supports the festival every year as a celebration of not only beauty and cooperation between countries but promoting arts culture and the environment as well. National Cherry Blossom Festival Events 2010
Southwest Travel Club invites you to experience the many varied and exciting events taking place at this, the 98th celebration, of this beautiful gift from an amazing country, and the onset of spring.

From exhibitions featuring Japanese fashion, ceramics and arts and crafts to paddle boat rides and the Pink Tie Party Fundraiser, events will be occurring throughout the festival all around the city. Explore a number of National Park Service presentations including historical presentations for the kids to guided tours of the natural and cultural influence of the cherry blossoms. Go for a bike ride showcasing the natural beauty of our Nation's Capital at its peak or take a cruise down the river and enjoy the sites and monuments important to the city and our history by moonlight. Southwest Travel Club invites you to experience the many performances, displays, tours and historical opportunities with your family at this amazing annual event.

A number of other exciting events which take place throughout the festival involve other interests and experiences for visitors to enjoy while visiting Washington D.C. during this special time. One such event is the 2010 Cherry Blossom Soccer Tournament which involves 32 adult co-ed teams from the D.C. Metropolitan area vying for the Cherry Blossom Cup. Another featured special event is the presentation by the Embassy of Japan of the pianist Tempei Nakamure at 6pm on March 30 at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
