Spring breakers coming to Key West Florida for the week can take advantage of the excellent opportunity of getting scuba certified right in one of the world's top destinations for scuba diving excursions. The Key West Dive Center, the leading center for Key West scuba diving excursions and instruction courses, is offering 3- and 4-day certification courses for visitors interested in earning their full diving certification.

The Key West diving certification courses are made up of bookwork, quizzes, pool work, and four check-out dives. Along with the Key West Dive Center's expert team of Key West diving instructors, novice divers can complete the work for a full certification in as little as three days. The first day is made up of a classroom-style lecture course followed by exams to test students' knowledge on the basics of scuba diving. On the second day, scuba divers learn to use the scuba gear in a pool setting. Then on that same day or on the next day, students get to experience an actual Key West diving trip alongside their instructor with two dives in two different areas of the coral reef. The following day, divers go on their last two "check out" dives, at the end of which they will receive their PADI Open Water scuba diving certification.

With this certification, divers are certified to dive in waters as deep as 60 feet in Key West and any other diving locations around the world. Many divers who complete their certification in Key West follow up the certification course with a dive to one of Key West's famous shipwreck locations. The USS Vandenberg is the most popular Key West diving destination these days thanks to its status as one of the world's largest artificial reefs.
