Standard Life Investments secures Bambos Hambi's signature

Standard Life Investments, a leading investment house, has boosted its multi-manager offering with the appointment of Bambos Hambi* as Head of Fund of Funds Management. Bambos' previous roles have included Head of Multi-Manager Funds at both Gartmore Investment Management and Rothschild Asset Management.

Reporting to Rod Paris, Head of Investments, Bambos will have overall responsibility for the portfolio management of the 15 funds in Standard Life Investments' new MyFolio Funds offering (see below). These are currently managed on an interim basis by Jacqueline Kerr, Head of UK Wholesale. Bambos will join Standard Life Investments on 28th March. Based in London, he will work alongside Alan Scrimger, who heads up the Multi-Manager research function.

Commenting on the appointment, Rod Paris said:

"Bambos Hambi is one of the pre-eminent fund of funds managers in the industry and this appointment is a significant hire for Standard Life Investments. This is a relatively new area for us, having launched the operation only last October.

"In that short time we have already managed to capture a noticeable share of the UK fund of funds marketplace by providing an excellent suite of risk based products that will fit well into the post-RDR world. Bambos' appointment will help boost our presence in this area yet further.

"Currently the range of MyFolio Funds is only available via Standard Life platforms, but from April onwards the funds are likely to appear on a number of other key third party platforms."

MyFolio Funds

The MyFolio Funds are a family of carefully constructed risk-based portfolios, managed by Standard Life Investments, that offer clients a choice of active and passive investment strategies across five risk levels. Three styles are available to suit each clients investment philosophy:
