Stark and Brandt Honored with AMC Basketball Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Deshaun Stark of William Woods (Mo.) and Morgan Brandt of Columbia (Mo.) have been named AMC Basketball Players of the Week, the office announce Monday. Stark and Brandt were honored based on their performance Nov. Nov. 27-Dec. 3.

AMC Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Dashaun Stark, William Woods (Mo.)
6-5, Sr., Guard, Springdale, Ark.

  • Averaged 17.5 points per game and 9.5 rebounds per game for the Owls, who went 1-1 on the Week.
  • Scored 19 points and 12 rebounds in the Owls 84-69 upset win over No. 7 Columbia (Mo.).
  • Shot 47-1-percent from the field (8-of-17) and went 18-of-19 (94.7-percent) from the foul line, including a perfect 13-of-13 against Columbia.
  • Weekly totals: 35 points, 19 rebounds, 12 assists, three steals and one block.
  • Leads the Owls in points per game (15.1) and is tied for the team lead in rebounds per game (7.2).
  • Scored in double-digits in all but one game.
  • This is his second career AMC Player of the Week award.

AMC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Morgan Brandt, Columbia (Mo.)
5-10, Jr., Guard, Loose Creek, Mo.

  •  Averaged a double-double in the Cougars two wins over (RV) Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) and (RV) William Woods (Mo.)
  • Scored 10 points and brought down 16 rebounds in Columbia's 78-52 win over rival William Woods.
  • Weekly totals: 27 points, 23 rebounds, six steals, two assists and one block.
  • Shot 11-of-31 from the field and 4-of-6 from the foul line.
  • Scored in double figures in all but three games this season.
  • Third in the AMC with three double-doubles.
  • Ranks 10th in the NAIA in defensive rebounds per game (6.8).
  • This is her third career AMC Women's Basketball Player of the Week award.

    • Tyrone Hueitt Jr., Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) – Averaged 15 points and 5.5 rebounds for the Trojans, who went 2-0 on the week.
    • Martavian Payne, Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) – Scored 24.7 points per game in three games for the Lynx, including 34 against No. 7-Columbia (Mo.).
    • Nathan Biggs, Columbia (Mo.) – Averaged 18 points per game in two game this week.
    • Dwane Miner, Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) – Tallied 30 points and 11 rebounds for the Hornets, who went 2-0.  
  • Women:
    • Blessing Samuel, Williams Baptist (Ark.) – Scored 13 points with eight rebounds, eight steals and three assists in the Eagles 57-55 win over Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.).
    • Alison Webb, Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) – averaged 11.5 points per game and 11.0 rebounds per game in two games for the Lynx.
    • Alantis Sutton, Harris-Stowe State (Mo.) – Tallied 29 points in the Hornets 2-0 week, including 18 against St. Louis Pharmacy.
    • Haylee Croom, Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) – Posted a career-high 14 points in the Lions road win over Hannibal-LaGrange.
    • Liz Henderson, Lyon (Ark.) – Tallied 34 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals for the Scots, who went 2-0 on the week. She shot 57.1-percent (8-of-14) from the 3-point arc.
