London — State Street today announced the call for entries for the thirteenth annual State Street Institutional Press Awards recognising outstanding performance in institutional financial services reporting.
Building on the success of previous years, the 2014 Awards will honour the contribution of journalists covering institutional investment, pensions, and investor services & technology issues over the past year.
For 2014, the awards will recognise excellence in journalism in the following ten categories:
1. Journalist of the Year - Pensions issues
2. Journalist of the Year - Regulatory issues
3. Journalist of the Year – Investment
4. Journalist of the Year – Investor Services & Technology
5. Journalist of the Year – Alternatives
6. Journalist of the year – Passive investment / Indexing (including ETFs)
7. News Journalist of the Year
8. Award for Best Newcomer
9. Award for Best Editorial Comment
10. Award for Outstanding Contribution to Institutional Journalism 2014
The winners in each category, as well as the first two runners-up in categories one to nine, will be announced at the State Street Institutional Press Awards presentation ceremony which will take place in London on Wednesday 12th November 2014 (lunchtime) – Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard.
State Street has invited Charles Batchelor and Julian Marr to serve as lead judges of the 2014 Press Awards, with the support of a five-strong panel of respected figures from the UK and European financial services industry. The judging panel for 2014 is as follows:

State Street welcomes submissions from journalists / publications wishing to enter in any of the eight eligible categories. Entrants should complete the entry form, submitting two supporting articles per category entered, published over the last 12 months (July 2013 – July 2014 inclusive). Please also note that the same articles cannot be submitted in multiple categories.
Submissions for the award for best editorial comment should be made by editors and must be completed with two leader/comment pieces that demonstrate original, timely and interesting thought on key institutional issues.
