Sting! 7: Winter Wonderland at The Beehive Boston
The Beehive's Seventh Installment in their Continuing Art Series An Evening of Art, Music and Performance at Boston’s Beehive.
WHAT: On Wednesday, January 13, 2010 from 6:30PM to 8:30PM The Beehive’s co-owner and resident curator Jennifer Epstein will be joined by guest curators Beth Kantrowitz, former co-founder/director of the Allston Skirt Gallery and Kathleen O’Hara, former co-founder/director of OHT Gallery, to host the 7th installment in The Beehive's continuing art series entitled, Sting! 7: Winter Wonderland.
The ongoing event always signifies the launch of a new art installation at The Beehive and highlight’s an evening of great entertainment, great food & libations along with amazing art.
Sting! 7: Winter Wonderland is a selection of work by eleven artists who address the subject of winter, the holidays, ice, snow and the cold set amongst the warmth and glow of The Beehive's unique space. The exhibition will include painting, photography, pencil drawings, a site-specific wall painting, and video. To take the chill out, cozy up to the sounds of Brazilian Bossa singer Joao Marcos. The Beehive Sting! Series:
The Beehive Sting! Series is an on-going art series that presents the diversity of art now. The goal is to find work of the moment that is engaging, challenging and exciting, providing viewers with a broad exposure to contemporary art and providing artists a chance to get outside of the white box. Unlike a gallery or museum, The Beehive is not limited by the confines of an aesthetic agenda and can select a variety of innovative work.

About Beth Kantrowitz and Kathleen O’Hara:
Beth Kantowitz/bk Projects and Kathleen O’Hara/OHT Projects collaborate to curate projects in the Boston area. Beth was the co-founder and director of Allston Skirt Gallery in Boston. Kathleen was co-founder/director of OHT Gallery in Boston. Both galleries were pioneer spaces in the South End SOWA neighborhood of Boston.
OHT Projects and bk projects will be opening a small, storefront space in March, 2010 at 81 Spring Street in Watertown.
