The average IT professional has a 1 in 4 chance of landing a job after taking part in a series of online IT training videos. Recently, the graduates of the IT program at Chadsworth Community College have had a success rate of 100%. Every single graduate for the past five years has found successful employment in the IT industry and it could be due to one tiny change in the IT training videos – subliminal messages.
"Five years ago we decided to reshoot our online IT training videos for our IT program", explained the director of the IT program at Chadsworth. "We thought a more updated look would encourage people to sign up for our course. While shooting the new videos we also decided to add a little something extra and place positive subliminal messages throughout the video."
The college employed positive thinking coach, Mandy Summers, to help with various aspects of the video. Mandy Summers helped create the script that the narrator and instructor followed, helped designed the set, and even had input in the opening sequences of the video.
"All of the elements Mandy Summers helped with was to help improve the confidence of the students", said the director. "For example, there is a scene where the director is teaching a skill on the computer and the camera cuts away. There is a poster on the back of the wall that says 'Success Starts with You!' It's little things like that that will help improve the confidence of our students."
The subliminal positive messages that are in the online IT training videos have been a well-kept secret throughout the college campus. Many of students have heard rumors about them, but were unable to really tell if it was true or not.
"I heard a rumor several years ago that the videos have these subliminal messages in them, but didn't believe it", said Charles Ingo, a student at Chadsworth Community College. "I honestly thought it would be like whispering in the background or something played backwards. I didn't think it would be positive messages."
The community college saw an increase in graduate employment rates skyrocket after the release of the videos. The previous employment rate for graduates was approximately 85%, but it rose to 100% after these videos.
"I really believe that these positive messages throughout the videos are what is helping these students get a job", said the director. "I think it was money well spent."
