Successful integration of the new FARO Edge in PolyWorks V12 from Duwe-3d AG

Coventry, November 30th, 2011 – FARO (NASDAQ: FARO), the world’s leading provider of portable 3D documentation, measurement and imaging systems, and Duwe-3d AG, the European partner and exclusive representative of InnovMetric Software Inc. in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, announce the results of the integration tests of the FARO Edge measuring arm and the PolyWorks V12 software.

On 30th September 2011, Duwe-3d AG made tests in their centre of excellence for 3D metrology in Lindau, extensively examining the connection between the new FARO Edge measuring arm and the new version 12 of the PolyWorks software. PolyWorks V12 is the standardised solution for visual and tactile coordinate measuring technology and for the processing and evaluation of three-dimensional data in industrial applications. The result of the test series confirmed the excellent integration of the latest generation of the FARO measuring arm into the PolyWorks environment. Thus, the PolyWorks software supports measuring and scanning.

In addition, settings can now be done, such as calibration on the FARO measuring arm, which are then available in PolyWorks. The measuring arm can be connected using USB, WLAN or Bluetooth. The PolyWorks plug-in also allows the guided measurement of specified test procedures, thereby flexibly using measuring variables such as the compensation method, the exact number of scanning points or predefined sensing ranges.

FARO and Duwe-3d AG will present their new products at EuroMold, the international trade fair for mould making and tooling, design and product development, taking place from 29th November to 2nd December 2011 at the Frankfurt exhibition area. Visitors are invited to see all the new developments at the FARO booth (Hall 8, K70) and the booth of Duwe-3d AG (Hall 8, K55).
