Sudokkho, One step closer to a Sustainable Private Training Market

SUDOKKHO organized the second batch of a five-day training of trainers on Basic Instructional Skills Training (BIST) from 9th to 13th September 2018.

Skills and Employment Programme in Bangladesh (SEP-B), also known as SUDOKKHO organized the second batch of a five-day training of trainers on Basic Instructional Skills Training (BIST) from 9th to 13th September 2018 at Hotel Blossom. Twenty-five instructors participated in the training from fourteen privately owned training institutes from all over Bangladesh. It is a part of the support package to the privately owned training businesses.

Mr. Erling Petersen, the team leader of SUDOKKHO, Mr. Suresh Mahto, Skills Development Director and Ms. Foyzun Nahar, Consultant of BIST were present during the opening session to encourage the participants.

The objective of the training was to improve the facilitation skills of the instructors. The topics of the training covers the roles & responsibilities of an instructor, basic conception about technical and vocational education and training (TVET), competency-based training (CBT), national skills development policy (NSDP), adult learning, Terminal Performance Objective (TPO), instructional methods and techniques, PG, Organizational Safety & Health (OSH), Micro Teaching, Gender and Social Inclusion (GSI), and CBT curriculum guide. There was also demonstration by the participants on selected topics.

After completion the training the participants were awarded certificates by Sudokkho.

Sudokkho is a five-year skills training and employment programme in Bangladesh funded by UK aid through its Department for International Development (DFID) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The programme is executed by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Bangladesh. Palladium International is implementing the programme in consortium with SwissContact and British Council.

Sudokkho tests and scales-up market-driven, quality skills training systems within the readymade garments and construction sectors that will stimulate further investment in training by trainees, private training providers and employers. Sudokkho aims to ensure employment of 100,000 poor people, including women and disadvantaged populations, after successful completion of training through its partnerships with privately owned training service providers and industry-based training initiatives.
