Peddle Thorp switch to Union Square in line with success

The Brisbane-based Peddle Thorp has been enjoying significant success in recent months with appointment to major projects in Australia and Papua New Guinea.  These recent commissions build upon recognition for successful and award-winning public buildings, including community and university libraries, hospital developments and high-rise residential buildings.  The multi-disciplined practice’s skill set is built upon a wide range of architectural, interior design, urban design and planning experience.  Peddle Thorp operating in Brisbane and Cairns in Australia is part of the Australasian based Peddle Thorp brand.

Growth brings the need to upgrade to a more robust system.  For this reason, the company has turned to Union Square for AEC Professionals to take it to that next level of project financial, data and document management and extranet collaboration.  In an interview Associate Director, Brett Hudson revealed:

We were looking for a system that was specifically tailored to architects, something that would be central to the whole practice and improve the way that we managed and worked with information.

Union Square for AEC Professionals was a system Brett felt stood out against others in the industry because of its unique range of features.  By having one central repository, Union Square facilitates the fast searching of information not only including documents, emails and drawings but also providing for the financial management of projects, resource forecasting and integration with design tools such as Revit.  All this data can be easily filed in a central location meaning all users have access to up-to-date information irrespective of whether they are in the office or working remotely.  A modern practice must be able to store and retrieve information with ease in order to drive efficiency and deliver great service, something that is clear to Peddle Thorp’s Design Systems Manager, Mark Cronin:

Electronic correspondence was becoming a burden to file, track and search for.  Union Square offered a cleaner, simpler and quicker way to do this.  In a sense, it is a one stop shop for all project information, the single interface is incredibly easy to use and will save time and effort for our users. We also needed a solution that integrates seamlessly with our advanced BIM management processes.”

Visibility and access to project information is key to ensuring important decisions based on relevant information can be easily made.  The practice isn’t required to use separate systems for different aspects of project management, instead it can all be found, edited and stored in the same place.  Australasian Director, Will Yandell discussed the exciting prospect of working with Peddle Thorp:

We are thrilled to be working alongside Peddle Thorp, a practice greatly respected in the industry, in particular their advocacy of modern methods of working, including the adoption of BIM methodologies.  We look forward to supporting them in their continued success and evolution by helping them manage information in a progressive and efficient manner.  We are very happy to be working with such an influential and well respected practice and we expect that the relationship will help us cement our position as a leading provider of practice and project data management systems in Queensland.”
