WALTHAM, Mass. – October 3, 2008-D2Hawkeye®, Inc., the market leader in transforming healthcare data into valuable information for managing clinical risk and costs, today announced that Surya Singh, M.D., will be presenting at the American College of Gastroenterology’s Annual Scientific Meeting on October 3 – 8, 2008 in Orlando, FL. Presenting with him will be Melissa Minor, M.D., a member of the division of Gastroenterology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Dr. Singh and Dr. Minor will present a study, titled “PPD Testing in Patients Starting Infliximab for Treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease,” which was conducted through a collaboration between D2Hawkeye, Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The study was authored by Dr. Singh and Dr. Minor, as well as Dr. Sanjay Ghimire, a consulting physician and data mining expert at D2.

In the study, D2Hawkeye’s aggregate research database was used to examine the rate at which patients with inflammatory bowel disease placed on the TNF inhibitor infliximab are pre-screened for latent tuberculosis infection using PPD testing and chest x-rays. The D2Hawkeye database includes medical and pharmaceutical claims for more than 11 million lives between 2000 and 2007. Patients included in the analysis had two separate medical claims for Crohn’s Disease or ulcerative colitis, at least one year of continuous enrollment, and a new pharmaceutical claim for infliximab therapy (based on a 6-month look-back period). The findings from this original research will also be programmed into the D2 Medical Rules Library.

The American College of Gastroenterology’s Annual Scientific Meeting will be held at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Orlando, FL. The event will offer attendees the latest clinical information on various key topics, panel sessions showcasing research and studies, networking opportunities, and exhibitions featuring the latest technological and therapeutic advances in the industry.
