Relationship between “care gaps” and healthcare costs will be addressed

WALTHAM, Mass. – September 17, 2008 - D2Hawkeye®, Inc. (D2),the market leader in transforming healthcare data into valuable information for managing clinical risk and costs, today announced that  Surya Singh, M.D., will speak at the Second National Predictive Modeling Summit in Washington, D.C. on September 22-23, 2008. Presenting with him will be Shiva Gautum, PhD, Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School who is a long-time partner and collaborator with D2.

The presentation, titled “Clinical Applications of Predictive Modeling,” will focus on the relationship between reducing healthcare costs and closing “Care Gaps,” which is integral to D2’s predictive modeling system. Dr. Singh and Dr. Gautum will present on Monday, September 22 during Track Session One (“Clinical Applications Track.”)

The D2 predictive modeling system is composed of the Risk Index (RI), which calculates clinical risk and predicts future costs, and the Care Gap Index (CGI), a score that assesses the type and degree of care gaps for individuals in a population. The presentation will cover the most recent statistical analysis of the relationship between the Care Gap Index and healthcare costs within various population segments.

“Our Predictive Modeling System quantifies the potential economic impact of closing care gaps,” says Dr. Singh.  “This new methodology will allow our clients, for the first time, to clearly project the costs which they can impact in a given population by closing care gaps and calculate the savings they can achieve.”

The Second National Predictive Modeling Summit, to be held at the Renaissance Washington D.C. Hotel, will focus on a variety of topics, including data mining, care management, predictive modeling, employer adaptation, medical stop loss, renewal underwriting, and prescription management.
