Suspect in Fatal Stabbing, Arrested by Border Patrol

YUMA, Ariz. – Wellton Station Border Patrol agents arrested a U.S. citizen at the Interstate 8 Immigration Checkpoint late Saturday after finding he had an active warrant for attempted murder.

 

Wellton Station agents working at the immigration checkpoint referred the driver of a Chevy Impala to secondary inspection after a canine alerted to an odor it was trained to detect. During the inspection, agents conducted records checks revealing the subject was wanted for a fatal stabbing in Peoria, Arizona. Agents also found a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle.

 

The driver, vehicle, and marijuana were turned over to Peoria Police Department.
