SWE-DISH Drive-Away CCT120 Satellite Terminal Delivers Proven Performance in High Definition
1.2-Meter CommuniCase® Technology Product Consistently Performs Reliable HD Broadcasts
STOCKHOLM, Sweden — April 15, 2009 — The Drive-Away CCT120 ultra-portable satellite terminal from SWE-DISH Satellite Systems AB, a DataPath company specializing in compact, quick-to-air and easy-to-use mobile satellite communications (SATCOM) equipment, consistently delivers high-definition (HD) broadcast quality video from the field. The terminal delivers HD broadcasting through a highly compact, low-weight antenna and system design critical to broadcasters that require greater performance as well as greater mobility from a satellite terminal. In addition, the system provides the exceptional flexibility, cost-effectiveness and ease-of-use of the innovative modular CommuniCase® Technology (CCT) concept.
The Drive-Away CCT120 delivers up to 17 Mbps MPEG-4 AVC HD with only a 50W transceiver. This high performance is achieved via SWE-DISH’s high-gain, dual-optics Gregorian antenna. System performance is also enhanced by a high linear power SSPA and the low feed losses achieved by SWE-DISH’s antenna design. The system allows for a higher-powered 180W configuration that can achieve even greater throughput throughout a wider footprint.
The Drive-Away CCT120 enables mobile news gathering teams to broadcast from anywhere in the world using Ku band, transmitting live news, sports and other events in HD format. The system provides a flexible solution that, due to its specialized design, small size and low weight, can be mounted on any vehicle in a broadcaster’s fleet. The Drive-Away CCT120 is fully enclosed during transport, and it deploys quickly with a point-and-shoot antenna control that enables transmission to begin within minutes.
The innovative common modular system architecture of CommuniCase Technology creates a line of easy-to-configure terminals designed to meet present and future operational needs. Like all CCT products, the Drive-Away CCT120 features multiple modules, a plug-in modem, an antenna system, a controller, and a transceiver, all of which can easily be configured and used with current and future SWE-DISH CCT products.
For maximum flexibility, the CCT product family also includes fly-away and Suitcase® systems based on the same HD-proven design.
“The Drive-Away CCT120 is a powerful and compact antenna that has repeatedly proven its high-performance capabilities when deployed,” said Lars Jehrlander, CEO of SWE-DISH. “It provides HD through a modular and flexible terminal that is proving to be an exceptional solution for broadcasters.”
