Synovus Creates Senior Housing Group
June 30, 2011, Columbus, GA -Synovus (NYSE - “SNV”), the Columbus, Georgia-based financial services company, today announced the formation of its Senior Housing Group to focus on building relationships in the commercial banking segment that includes Alzheimers, convalescent and assisted-living care facilities, as well as nursing homes. Synovus also previoulsly announced expansions in its Treasury Management Group and Large Corporate Banking initiative as part of an overall commercial banking strategy to drive revenue growth with small, middle and large commercial banking customers.
Synovus has selected five bankers for this new Senior Housing Group team,William E. “Bill” Shine, Sarah S. Duggan, Malana C. Bryant, John W. Tyson and Donna C. Phillips, who collectively have more than 110 years of experience in commercial banking.
Shine has more than 34 years of commercial banking and healthcare lending experience and will lead the team. He joined Synovus from Capmark Finance Inc. as the Director of Corporate Banking for Specialized Healthcare Lending. At Capmark, he served as Executive Vice President and Manager of the Seniors Housing and Healthcare Finance Group. He is a founding Board Member of the National Investment Center (NIC) for the Seniors Housing and Care Industry.
Shine holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University.
Duggan most recently served as Senior Vice President of the Seniors Housing and Healthcare Finance Group for Capmark Finance Inc. She is a past Board Chair and Executive Committee Member for the NIC. Duggan is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce and Business Administration.
Tyson served as Senior Underwriter for the Seniors Housing and Healthcare Finance Group for Capmark Finance Inc. He has more than 26 years of experience in credit underwriting and portfolio management. Tyson is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.
Bryant previously served as Senior Vice President of Credit and Treasury Management for Capmark Bank. Bryant has 17 years of experience in underwriting and senior housing asset management, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce and Business Administration from the University of Alabama.
Phillips will be responsible for tracking and evaluating internal and external data, as well as interpreting current and future financial trends in the commercial banking market. She served in various capacities at Capmark Bank, from Senior Branch Coordinator to her most recent position as Assistant Vice President, Reporting Analyst.
