Tait strengthens customer support in Australia with new facility
February 17, 2011 -- Tait Radio Communications, a global leader in radio solutions, has expanded its Australian presence by opening a new facility in Melbourne, further strengthening its resolve to provide world-class service and support to its customers.
The new facility -- based in one of the largest centres of science, technology and research in Australia -- will allow creation of up to 12 new jobs over the next year, and house existing Melbourne staff while providing extended support for Tait's Brisbane-based office.
"We are very pleased to open this new facility in Melbourne and mark another step forward in our commitment to deliver exceptional service and support to our customers," says Brett Smythe, Managing Director of Tait Radio Communications Asia Pacific region.

"Tait has maintained a strong presence in Victoria and we continue to foster close customer relationships there. This new facility allows us to keep a constant focus on providing real benefits and results for them."
The new facility is Tait's first Intrinsically Safe (IS) Australian workshop, which complies with stringent safety criteria required to repair and maintain IS-accredited portable radios.
Tait officially opened the doors to the new facility last week, hosting a formal launch event for local customers and new staff.
Based in Clayton -- which has the highest density of high-technology industries in Victoria -- the facility will serve primarily as a workshop and project-planning centre to manage the roll-out of new radio equipment, ongoing maintenance and upgrades for the Country Fire Authority (CFA) Radio Replacement Programme.
The CFA, one of the world's largest community safety and emergency-service organisations, awarded Tait a US$29 million contract last year to replace 10,000 digital, trunked radios. The project is expected to be fully completed by mid-2012.
The new Melbourne facility adds to recent global growth momentum for Tait, following the November launch of its Vienna-based office to support expansion in the European, Middle Eastern and African regions. Tait also has facilities located in the USA, UK, China and Singapore.
"The new facility in Melbourne ensures we remain well-positioned to continue delivering the very highest levels of service and support to our Australian customers, further strengthening our in-depth partnerships and the benefits we bring to them," adds Brett.
