Earlier this year Takeda made a major donation to San Diego Center for Children enabling a new behavioral health diagnostic program

SAN DIEGO, CA, November 21, 2011 - (PressReleasePoint) - For the ninth consecutive year, Takeda scientists and employees will bring cheer and delight to special needs teens at the San Diego Center for Children by hosting a holiday pizza party and providing gifts donated by Takeda employees.  Employees will raise funds with a Chili and Curry Cook-off at their San Diego offices where volunteer chefs compete for the best chili or curry. The money raised through tasting the food and a raffle is then used to purchase holiday gifts, which are delivered to the children at the party on Monday, December 19.

The Takeda team will spend time with teens enrolled in the Center’s Clark Residential Program creating fun holiday memories. Takeda’s involvement with the Center is part of Takeda’s ongoing dedication and commitment to society through corporate social responsibility activities. Earlier this year, Takeda provided the San Diego Center for Children with a major gift enabling a new behavioral health diagnostic program that will lead to more individualized diagnoses and treatments for Center residents and promote their faster return to healthy and full childhoods.

“While we pride ourselves in giving back year round, our team members have grown particularly fond of this event over the years,” said Keith Wilson, Takeda President. “Collectively, we have an amazing team of individuals that take pride in aiding our community on a grassroots level. Each year we conduct several company-wide efforts to support local nonprofit organizations, schools, and the environment.”

The San Diego Center for Children is the oldest accredited nonprofit organization helping San Diego’s children. Since 1887, the Center has been caring for special needs children throughout San Diego County. The Center helps children thrive whose trauma, abuse or mental health challenges delay their potential for success.
