For the fifth year in a row, KLS staff members took a day off from the library to volunteer in the community, and processed enough food to feed a family of four for an entire year. The initiative was coordinated by the KLS Community Building Group.
“When you’re standing sweating on the line with other people, heaving boxes, you work with people in a totally different manner. You may be working with someone you’re not familiar with, but you get to know them really quickly,” said Kathy Moody, coordinator of administration and communications, who organizes the visit each year.
The volunteer days are always scheduled during the summer and are supported by HBS, which already donated funds to purchase 3,000 meals this year.
