TECO Energy unveils Corporate Sustainability website
Addresses balancing energy, environment and economics
TAMPA, August 1, 2011
TECO Energy today unveiled its new Corporate Sustainability Report (CSR) website, which outlines the company’s corporate sustainability efforts and accomplishments for 2010. The website details the company’s efforts to sustain its businesses for today and tomorrow by focusing on stewardship and foresight.
“A healthy, growing business is a sustainable business,” s aid John Ramil, president and chief executive officer of TECO Energy. “Sustainability means we must understand our environment, and make strategic and tactical decisions that minimize negative impacts and take advantage of opportunities.”
The website outlines the company’s priorities, including:
- Meet our stakeholders’ expectations and provide long-term business sustainability;
- Manage our energy business through engaged employees who effectively serve our customers and our community;
- Proactively and prudently implement measures to reduce our environmental impact;
- Be stewards of our natural resources; and
- Exhibit the highest ethical behavior and compliance with all laws and regulations.
The reporting for 2010 includes the company’s four businesses – Tampa Electric, Peoples Gas, TECO Coal and TECO Guatemala – and it explains how the company views and acts on its responsibilities to balance energy, the environment and economics. The report is available under “About Us” on each company’s website.
TECO Energy has published sustainability or environmental reports since 2006; this is the first year the company created a website dedicated to the effort. The report also is more robust and in-depth than in previous years.

TECO Energy Inc. (NYSE: TE) is an energy-related holding company. Its principal subsidiary,Tampa Electric Company, is a regulated utility in Florida with both electric and gas divisions (Tampa Electric andPeoples Gas System). Other subsidiaries include TECO Coal, which owns and operates coal production facilities in Kentucky and Virginia, and TECO Guatemala, which is engaged in electric power generation and energy-related businesses in Guatemala.
