Telstra International, a leading provider of managed network services and international data, voice and satellite services, today announced it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the Challengers quadrant of the Magic Quadrant for Asia/Pacific Network Service Providers.*

Compiled by Gartner analysts, the Magic Quadrant examined 15 vendors of IT services for business communications systems worldwide, employing two main evaluation criteria. These include ability to execute and completeness of vision.

Telstra International Global Director, Products and Marketing, Mr Nathan Bell believes that the recognition as a Challenger in the Gartner Magic Quadrant is testament to Telstra’s expertise in supporting its global customer base in the Asia Pacific region, combined with the significant investment the company has made in its products portfolio and infrastructure.

“Asia Pacific is a key region in the global economy and for our customers, the ability to deliver scalable, reliable and cost efficient solutions to support their changing business requirements is essential,” Mr Bell said. “Telstra International operates one of the largest and most diverse networks in Asia Pacific and we continue to invest in this network to support our customers as they face these increasing pressures.

“We are delighted to be recognized as a Challenger by Gartner as we feel it demonstrates our ability to execute and our completeness of vision, based on the needs of enterprises today and in the future,” Mr Bell concluded.

Telstra completed a restructure of the Reach joint venture last year, which provided an expanded platform in the Asia Pacific region, including direct ownership of more undersea cable assets, an international PSTN voice capability, additional Point-of-Presence (PoPs) and satellite services and associated base stations that reach over two thirds of the Earth’s surface. This resulted in increased control over the end-to-end service delivery platform, allowing its enterprise and global service provider customers to experience enhanced customer service, improved service management and delivery and more competitive market positioning.

Magic Quadrant for Asia/Pacific Network Service Providers report states: “MNCs are expanding their operations into China and India, requiring extensive domestic coverage. They are also expanding into new emerging markets such as Indo-China, the Indian subcontinent, and the Middle East and Africa, which have little or poor network infrastructure. Increasingly, they are looking to their NSP to manage their customer premises equipment, particularly voice infrastructure, across the region.”
