Telstra International, a leading global supplier of managed network and hosting services, today announced significant enhancements to its existing global Ethernet services portfolio, enabling its customers to benefit from an improved service and fully comprehensive service offering.

The new portfolio will ensure Telstra International’s Ethernet customers will receive delivery of Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) Approved ‘Network Interface Devices’ (NIDs) offering end-to-end carrier Ethernet as standard on every customer site. Ethernet Media Convertors (EMCs) will also be available, providing customers with the capability of end-to-end service to ensure network consistency and minimised complexity.

Telstra International Global Director of Products and Marketing, Mr Nathan Bell said the enhanced Ethernet services are amongst the most comprehensive offerings available and the breadth of the new portfolio offers a range of scalable options for businesses of all sizes, with greatly improved service and delivery. Trend reports based on historical usage measurements will be available to customers providing insight into traffic growth allowing for forward planning of network capacity before utilisation reaches a critical level.

“These enhancements ensure that our portfolio of Ethernet Private Line Services and Ethernet Virtual Private Line Services (EPL and EVPL) and our Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) can now enable more global organisations to realise the value of carrier Ethernet services in simplifying IT infrastructure and offering more capacity at lower costs. The portfolio also offers services which are ideal for accessing cloud services and the corresponding returns of reduced complexity, lower costs and improved scalability on offer,” said Mr Bell.

The upgraded and expanded services mean Telstra International customers will now be able to:

  • Expand reach to locations where Ethernet was previously unavailable;
  • Benefit from end-to-end support and diagnostics in order to reduce downtime and increase the reliability in achieving ‘Ready For Service Dates’; and
  • Have visibility as to when capacity upgrades are needed in a timely manner.

“Enabling growth, whilst reducing costs through greater operational efficiencies and productivity improvements, are among the top priorities for CXOs this year”, said Mr Bell. “These additions to the Ethernet portfolio will facilitate this with enhanced customer service and improved service management and delivery.”

The advancements further build on Telstra International’s existing intercontinental coverage. The complete portfolio achieved MEF 9 and MEF 14 certifications from the MEF. Telstra International also announced its connectivity to the CENX Exchange earlier this year, which further extended the reach of its EVPL and VPLS.
