Terri Bailey Honored as Engineer of the Year
February 28, 2013
At a banquet held on February 21, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Ridge Branch named KCI Technologies Inc. senior project engineer Theresa M. Bailey, PE, as Engineer of the Year. The award recognizes Bailey’s technical capabilities, professional leadership and personal achievements. Working in the geotechnical field since 1972, Bailey’s technical areas of expertise include neutral evaluation, sinkhole claims, building/site damage claims, forensic evaluation, vibration damage evaluation, geophysical surveys and forensic geotechnical engineering.
“Terri has a longstanding record of service to our profession marked by an unselfish attitude and a sustained commitment,” said Vice President Anu Saxena, PE. “Tomorrow’s engineers would be well-served to follow her example as our profession grows and continues to impact so many facets of our daily existence.”
An active ASCE member, Bailey has served in each leadership role in three different branches, as well as treasurer for the Florida Section. She is currently serving as president of the Ridge Branch. Bailey has also served as chair of the engineering and science fair committees for the West Coast Branch for more than ten years and for the Florida Section for more than five years.
“ASCE has been a major force in my professional and social development over the years since I first joined in 1985,” said Bailey. “I thoroughly enjoy working with current members and introducing new civil engineers to the organization.”
Bailey joined KCI when the firm purchased Lakeland-based ASC geosciences inc. in 2010. She holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of South Florida. She is a registered professional engineer in Florida and Georgia and a certified neutral evaluator for all 67 Florida counties for the alternative dispute resolution process for sinkhole claims.
KCI is an engineering, consulting and construction firm serving clients throughout the U.S. and beyond. With revenues of approximately $117 million in 2011, KCI is ranked 96 on the Engineering News-Record's list of the top 500 engineering firms in the country. Roughly 950 KCI employee owners provide environmental, transportation, telecommunications, construction, facilities, and land development services from more than 20 locations.
