Thailand Targets 30 Million Tourists By 2015
In a bid to increase Thailand’s tourism revenue to more than one trillion baht in the next four years the Thai Minister of Tourism and Sports has designated 2012 as the ‘Miracle Thailand Year’. New incentives have been implemented to attract specific groups of tourists, report Castlewood Group.
Singapore, Singapore, December 14, 2011 - (PressReleasePoint) - Recently, the Thailand government has set a policy to encourage both domestic and international tourists to travel more in Thailand. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism and Sports, Mr Chumpol Silpa-archa has aimed to increase Thailand’s tourism revenue to more than one trillion baht in the next four years. He expects the number of tourist arrivals to increase to 30 million by 2015.
The period between 2011 and 2012 will be designated as the “Miracle Thailand Year” to attract international tourists to visit Thailand. The targeted group of tourists will be the high-end group. Visa fees will be exempted for tourists from countries such as Taiwan, Korea and China. In addition, travel insurance will be offered for them.
“These incentives will entice more visitors to travel to Thailand,” commented Jarrat Beaumont, Group Sales Director of Castlewood Group, a commercial real estate developer based in Singapore. “Now, there are more affluent tourists going to Thailand. They usually prefer to visit destinations such as Bangkok, Phuket and Koh Samui.”
Thailand is without doubt the most exotic holiday destination in all of Asia fondly referred to as the heart of Asia both because of its geographical location as well as for the endless holidaying packages it has on offer both for tight budget as well as well-heeled holiday makers. Thailand tourism has well earned its name and place as the most wonderful and exotic tourism destination in the world.
Thailand boasts the most pristine stretches of white sand beaches; warm holidaying weather year round, exotic scenes and cultural treasures preserved and carried on through generations. The enchanting people and popular cuisines are helping to attract more and more visitors to the country.
The vision by Thailand tourism ministry to increase the number of tourists visiting this incredibly fascinating holiday destination by 2015 to 30 million is grand but achievable; this has been proved by the statistics showing an increase in repeat visitors and record breaking numbers for new arrivals.
The Thailand Tourism ministry has for the last few years been putting in place measures to promote Thailand’s prestigious tourism packages especially to the affluent Chinese population. This is inspired by the fact that a package of high –spending Chinese tourist costs an average of 9,000 Chinese Yuan approximately 50,000 Thailand Baht and off course the fact that these visitors often tend to spend more on their stay. This is a sure way of realizing the vision of tourism revenue reaching more than one trillion Baht in the next four years.
Thailand Tourism ministry has seen results of government's pledge to support the revival of the tourism sector with the latest tourist records showing an encouraging increase of foreign visitors. This after experiencing an estimated 30% drop in international arrivals several years ago triggered by the global economic down turn, political turbulence and the unfortunate outbreak of type -A (H1-N1) influenza.
China is the fourth largest Asian market for Thailand tourism packages with a record of over 1 million visitors after Malaysia, Japan and Korea.
The 8over8 luxury hotel, a project by Castlewood Group, will be situated in Phuket, near the beautiful Bang Tao Beach and Laguna Resort. It will be scheduled for completion by the first quarter of 2013.
