The new version of the Brothers Grimm tale reinterpreted by Disney makes for an explosive, fun-filled story full of unexpected twists. "The Princess and the Frog" (French title:La Princesse et la Grenouille) comes to neighbourhood theatres in France on January 27.
Everyone knows the Brothers Grimm fairy tale of the princess and the frog, in which a prince falls under an evil spell and is transformed into a repugnant frog. The only way for him to recover his human appearance is to be kissed by a beautiful princess. That's the story we were told as children - but Disney studios have decided to give us their own version of the facts!
Tiana is a young woman from the poor neighbourhoods of New Orleans, but dressed in a magnificent ball gown and a tiara at her friend Charlotte's masquerade ball, she looks just like a princess. And with a wave of Disney's magic wand, an ordinary story is transformed into a fairy tale... But there's a twist. At the ball, Tiana has an unexpected encounter with a strange character, a talking frog, who tells her that he is really a prince who has fallen under a spell that turned him into a frog. He asks Tiana to kiss him to break the spell. Giving in to his pleas, Tiana finally agrees to kiss him. However, instead of the prince turning into a human, Tiana is turned into a frog herself.

After its tremendous success in the United States where the movie was a triumph at the box office, The Princess and the Frog arrived in France on 27 January.
And so that French children can continue to dream happy dreams when they leave the theatre, a whole series of publications in French is being released that will plunge them back into the magical cartoon world: a complete synopsis of the film (La Princesse et la Grenouille, Disney Classique), a large-format album (La Princesse et la Grenouille, Disney Cinéma), the story of the film illustrated by screen captures (La Princesse et la Grenouille, Disney présente), a small format album (La Princesse et la Grenouille, Disney lecture), an illustrated album (La Princesse et la Grenouille, Disney monde enchanté), and a puzzle inspired by the film (La Princesse et la Grenouille, Mon premier livre puzzle). And for food lovers, Hachette Pratique has also published a book of Tiana's favourite recipes entitledLa cuisine de Tiana.
