Tieto and UPM have agreed to expand their partnership in the Application Management services area. UPM will outsource and consolidate these services for certain business areas and functions to one partner.
The three-year agreement with two optional years has significant contract value to Tieto. Tieto is already the biggest provider of application and integration services for UPM and the new agreement will further strengthen the partnership. As part of the agreement, 47 employees from UPM’s IT Service Centres in Changshu, China, in Tampere, Finland and in Krakow, Poland, who are in scope of the outsourced operations, are planned to be transferred to Tieto to be established as existing employees or according to local legislation.
The partnership with Tieto brings improved scalability, flexibility, predictability and cost efficiency of IT services to UPM. Furthermore, the agreement will contribute to continuous service improvement and service innovations.
“We have had a long and successful cooperation with Tieto, and this agreement expands our partnership to new areas. Tieto delivers us commercially efficient and scalable Application Maintenance Services. Their offering is a good fit with our strategic targets”, says Turkka Keskinen, CIO of UPM.
“We are very proud that UPM, the leader in bio and forest industries globally, has chosen us as a true business partner. Tieto has extensive industry expertise and understanding of UPM’s transforming business needs and environment. Furthermore, we have global delivery capability and industrialized service processes. We are further expanding our current cooperation, and providing UPM the services right in the core of their business”, says Ari Järvelä, EVP for Manufacturing, Forest, Retail and Logistics Industry Group at Tieto.
